WOMEN IN DESIGN: End of the Year Notes

Studio Drawing 02.jpg

Wow. Today’s the last Tuesday of the 2014-2015 academic year that I’ll be writing my column. Hopefully we’ll will be done with exams by next Tuesday, and we’ll be busy having fun and relaxing. Or something like that. As a result, this week’s article is more of a farewell-for-now than a write-up or analysis.

I’ve had a great time writing for you this year, and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading everything produced. As with anything that’s brand new, as the Women in Design partnership is, there’s always a period of adjustment that typically results in something awesome. But I think this helped us grow and learn. We had the opportunity to see and discuss many amazing lectures, read and talk about many great articles, and hear from many awesome professors.

Next year will have many of the same themes. I’ll talk about any great articles I come across. Many visiting lecturers will find themselves in these articles. And there are already more awesome faculty members lined up for interviews. So be on the lookout this coming academic year, because there’s always something interesting to talk about.

I’m lucky to have such awesome readers. Seriously, you guys rock! It’s been a joy working with both IMPRINT. and Women in Design, and I look forward to doing this next year. See you in the fall!

Image information:

I tried to sum up a lot of architecture school in one picture. That won’t do it justice, but it can show you that a conversation about design is as much about communicating through written means as it is through talking. This a ‘conversation’ that my professor and I had early in the semester. I’m probably the only one who can read it, but that’s often how these things turn out. If you have any photos like this, send them my way and you might see them in a future article.
